We are pleased to inform you that Marfan syndrome is expected to get national attention on Thursday, November 15*, as a result of a feature segment on the Today Show, on NBC-TV.
We expect the segment to feature the 2007 Annual Conference as well as the losartan vs. atenolol clinical trial. We are excited because we know that the producer got a lot of great footage, especially at the conference, although we can never know in advance exactly how the piece was cut. With a viewing audience in the millions, we anticipate that the segment will raise a great deal of awareness of Marfan syndrome. We hope that, as a result of seeing the segment, more people will get diagnosed and consider enrolling in the clinical trial.
The NMF is grateful to so many people for their participation in the tapings - for being interviewed or for helping with the many logistics along the way. This includes NMF members Dawn and Brooke Pulliam, Courtney McRae and her parents, and all the children, teens and families at the Annual Conference who were videotaped or interviewed by NBC; Dr. Hal Dietz, Joann Harper, Gretchen Oswald and the nurses in the pediatric outpatient clinic at Johns Hopkins; and the public relations department at Johns Hopkins and the Sheraton Palo Alto.

...Marfan Syndrome, tied as it is to the connective tissue, doesn't mix well with depression; as one goes through stress, the heart goes through stress, and the muscles go through stress, and this leads to problems.

I've lashed out, in my frustration at people..just as my father, lashes out at me, in his frustration. Apologies, sometimes are the most difficult & hurting aspects, when your sensitivities are aroused.

Why "Sugasm" Matters :

It was a beautiful day, for a walk; more like August, than the beginning of October. Today, while taking my daily Constitutional, I had the Sugasm on my brain.
The Sugasm, (or, Sugasm, as it's commonly called) celebrates it's 100th Post on Monday, October 8th, [Columbus Day, in the USA] 2007. The blog is a collecting of submissions; sex blog, sexy, submissions. It is a weekly digest, which promotes "the best of the week's sex blogs."
100 posts, and thousand's of submissions later, my daily constitutional (10 miles, walking), got me to thinking about, "why Sugasm Matters"; to me, and the people who read it; why, it matters to those who submit their work~~their creativity~~sometimes, on a weekly basis.
For those who have never heard of Sugasm, (and, I'm sure there must be someone in Blogville, who hasn't) please forgive my celebratory post. Maybe, just maybe, you'll be curious enough to check out Sugasm, or submit your own post, next week...(for "Sugasm #101")...

So, back to my walk! I carry a little notebook with me wherever I go. It's tucked into the back pocket of my jeans. I always carry a pen. As I walked, I thought about "Why Sugasm Matters"...10 miles, slow walking, enjoying the day, and taking notes.
I wrote down 20 reasons why Sugasm Matters.
Here they are:
1.] Collectively, Sugasm, is far more stimulating than "Tales of The Arabian Night's."
2.] It's Sugar...but, anything BUT fattening.
3.] It's a helluva lot better for you than kegel's!!
4.] If you know what Sugasm is, than you not only understand this blog post~~You're Sexy!!
5.] If you're a contributor, (writer; or, one who submits) to Sugasm, you're a member (or, vagina) of a community of sexy, uninhibited, sex bloggers, who are passionate (ie: "horny") about, not only sex, but, Politics & Poetry as well. That's right, Poetry (the Goooood kind!)
6.] If you're a reader, [lurker, blog-poster, writer who doesn't submit, or commenter] of Sugasm, each week, you'll gain more knowledge, than you will ever find in, "Everything you've Always wanted to Know About Sex," "The Joy of Sex," or, "The Kinsey Report."
7.] Even though "sexual fantasy" is not a substitute for sex...it's better than nothing!
8.] When submitting a blog-post to Sugasm, you're telling the World: "I'm uninhibited, and love sex as much as I love, LOVE!! And, that's saying a lot!
9.] There are far, far, more damaging, and dangerously dark, things in the world, than the Hotness of Sugasm. So, Enjoy.

It was a beautiful day, for a walk; more like August, than the beginning of October. Today, while taking my daily Constitutional, I had the Sugasm on my brain.
The Sugasm, (or, Sugasm, as it's commonly called) celebrates it's 100th Post on Monday, October 8th, [Columbus Day, in the USA] 2007. The blog is a collecting of submissions; sex blog, sexy, submissions. It is a weekly digest, which promotes "the best of the week's sex blogs."
100 posts, and thousand's of submissions later, my daily constitutional (10 miles, walking), got me to thinking about, "why Sugasm Matters"; to me, and the people who read it; why, it matters to those who submit their work~~their creativity~~sometimes, on a weekly basis.

Out-Patient....
....11:28 pm. September 20, 2007.
~~There's so much I could tell you, but I won't. Just the facts:.
I'm glad I checked into the hospital.
I didn't stay in, as long as I thought I'd be in~~and, (believe it, or not) even the food tasted good. I've got to STOP smoking (Joining the Program!)~~
The small blood vessels have been effected by the cigs, causing the arteries to work all the harder. Why I ever continued to smoke, (even after a spontaneous collapsed lung. [Well, I did stop for a year. I was 18 years old!]) is beyond me.
~~I've got my Meds under control. Depression is a bitch...(tonight, I'm not even worried about the stigma of Mental Illness) Honesty tells me I'm not alone;...
...not the only only one seeing a doctor, on an Out-patient basis.
(There is so much I could tell you, but I won't)

My father was talking tonight
About the Blue House on Sherman Street,
“Where Mom & I lived, with her folks,
After we got married…”
It was up the road, from the Lake,
And I remember being there as a child;
Visits, long after they’d found an apartment,
And, settled into a house,
And, had three kids:
One of which,
Was me.
How it is,

Real. Anniversaries are tough. Breathe. :
It is 4:45 a.m..
In the next room, my father moans in his sleep.
He may not be sleeping, as he moans.
He moans at night,
like a baby, or a wounded bear-cub, with its foot caught in a trap.
He passes his misery on,
as I toss and turn and finally fall
myself~~while awake.

Each day, I've tried to move forward.
I've never been as low as I've been the last few days...
...I don't want to leave my bed.
**
Today, I see two doctors.
One is going to talk to me about my depression;
the other, will examine my eyes,
my heart,
my bones,
and, chart where Marfan's syndrome has taken me.
**

On Sunday, it will be two years since my mother's death~~
her passing has effected our family in ways unspeakable,
and ever-lasting (so it seems)....
